Andrea and Paul’s wedding was held in the quaint beachside city of La Jolla, CA at The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego overlooking the La Jolla Coves. The bride & groom were married on their 9 year anniversary! These high school sweethearts planned a day that blended both their loves; art and the ocean. As a graphic design artist, Andrea set the tone of the wedding from the handmade invites and vintage postcard save the dates right down to the wedding florals & diy Scrabble cake topper! Paul started the day with a morning surf session with his groomsmen and they all kept it cool throughout the ceremony in black Vans classics and various teal blue-pattern skinny ties and suspenders. Andrea’s bridesmaids choose various black J.Crew dresses and had matching black beads & chain necklaces tied with silk teal ribbon. The bride wore an Amsale gown from the Spring 2010 Collection, adorned with a custom vintage pearl belt.

The guests were transported to the ceremony in an Old Town Trolley where they arrived to Paul’s friends band, Science Fiction, playing their soothing jazz & contemporary music. The aisles were adorned with burlap runners, black wooden boxes of potted succulents and yellow billy balls and staggered vases of candles & dried black beans. Cocktail hour immediately followed the ceremony where a cigar bar enticed the men!

The reception was held inside the Museum in the Axline Court, where an amazing clerestory lantern lit up the ceiling with strips of light while bringing in the natural moonlight from the open spaces. The guests enjoyed a dessert bar filled with cupcakes in 4 flavors, “presidential pralines” (yes, the actual ones given during the Clinton Administration thanks to Sweet Cheeks Baker, Donna who was their pastry chef!),  See’s chocolates, coconut macaroons and of course for the bride’s family, a plethora of Italian cookies.

Everyone danced the night away after a delicious meal and the evening ended with some fun sparklers right outside the Museum’s entrance!

On another fabulous (but cloudy) day in San Diego, we met up with Andrea and Paul and their dog Cali to shoot their urban, colorful, theorie-esque engagement session.

Andrea and Paul got married recently at the picturesque Museum of Contemporary Arts in Downtown La Jolla. So, look out for a post about their wedding which will be coming up soon! Andrea is a graphic designer and she created a beautiful DIY wedding that will for sure blow you away!

We had a blast hanging out with Andrea and Paul in La Jolla and Downtown San Diego. Andrea and Paul have been sweethearts for 9 years … they met in High School. Totally awesome! Like I had said in another post, one of the best things about our job is the fact that we get to work with such amazing people. Andrea and Paul are a totally cute couple, the perfect mix of a fun, creative and laid-back kind of love. Enough talk, here are the pictures!

On another gorgeous day in San Diego, we met up with Sasha and Harold. Sasha and Harold will be getting married this coming fall at Tower 23 in Pacific Beach. So excited about their beach meets the city wedding!

Sasha and Harold are two totally adorable, ridiculously stylish and very down-to-earth attorneys who have two adorable pups. They wanted a colorful, edgy and urban engagement session and since they live downtown they wanted to incorporate and capture the neighborhood where the live. We had a blast capturing their love for each other and their love for their doggies : ) Sasha and Harold were a fun couple and we had a blast hanging out with them in and around Downtown San Diego.

Maurice and I went up to Los Angeles to meet up with two rockstars, Elizabeth and Curt. Well, only one of them is a real rockstar – Curt, though Elizabeth has that rocker style too : ) Curt’s an amazing drummer and his band used to play shows on the renowned Sunset Boulevard. So what better place to take their engagement photos?

Funny memory of their shoot … as we were walking around and hanging out with Elizabeth and Curt, we almost walked right into Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals! Ochocinco did a double take when he saw Maurice’s camera and was probably confused about why Maurice wasn’t taking his picture : ) It definitely added a thrilling element to what was already an awesome day with a awesome couple.

Remember Rebecca and Brendan from the last post? They are now married!

Rebecca and Brendan got married on a beautiful spring San Diego day at the NTC Liberty Station North Chapel. To warm up for the big day, Rebecca’s family organized a wiffleball tournament at their rehearsal, a family tradition. There was definitely no love lost after a night of friendly competition and the day was nothing short of perfect.

This modern vintage wedding had bright yellow and navy accents adorning both the church and reception, which was held at the MCRD Bayview Restuarant. I loved Rebecca’s style! She rocked some gorgeous pearls, a fabulous cage veil, and not-to-forget her stunning blue shoes. Another cool thing was the cake topper, which were hand painted. They sat on a yellow wrapped gift box, totally sweet!

On another beautiful day in San Diego, we met up with Rebecca and Brendan in Oceanside. Rebecca and Brendan were married this spring at the North Chapel at the NTC Liberty Station.

We started our day by hanging out by some old bridges no longer in use. After that we headed towards Oceanside’s harbor and shot around the colorful shops. All in all, the day was a lot of fun and Rebecca and Brenda is such a sweet couple!

On a sunny and clear skied day, Pancy and Mike were married at the historic El Cortez in downtown San Diego.

It was a beautiful affair, starting with the Ceremony outside on the patio, which is known for it’s stunning view of downtown. Following cocktails on the patio was their reception in the legendary Don Room. The wedding was filled with bold reds with touches of blue and gold. A custom made gobo lit up the dance floor to add to the magic to what was already a fabulous day. Pancy and Mike kicked off the reception by doing their first dance sung by one of their close friends. That set the tone for the rest of the night, which was a pretty rocking party!

Pancy and Mike: It was a pleasure to have been apart of your special day! We hope that your years to come are filled with lots of happiness, joy and most of all love!

Sarah and Chris were married on a beautiful spring day at Sarah’s parent’s home located on Mt. Helix. The ceremony was held hillside, overlooking the San Diego’s picturesque countryside. The reception was held at the home, which was just above the ceremony location, which had an equally breathtaking view. The wedding was an elegant affair that had a dance floor that was set up on top of what was the pool. For their favors, they gave out jars of hand-picked macadamia nuts that were grown by Sarah’s family’s orchard. All in all, it was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple and you could feel the love all around.

On another gorgeous day, we headed Downtown San Diego to meet up with Sarah and Chris. They live in Downtown, so it was a natural choice to include their downtown neighborhood in the shoot.

Sarah is a HUGE sports fan and has a soft spot for all of our local teams. Chris, an avid cyclist, broke out his bike for a couple of shots. They even included their adorable pup in the shoot. It was a blast walking around with them through the colorful and captivating locations of Downtown San Diego.

Shortly after we took their engagement photos, they were married at a private estate on Mt. Helix. Stay tuned, their wedding photos are coming soon!

We recently had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia and New York City to shoot a couple of destination engagement sessions. You may recall Iris and Huy’s shoot here. Well, after shooting in Philadelphia, we made a quick trip northward to New York City to meet up with Kathleen and John. They are fortunate enough to live right in the heart of midtown Manhattan … sigh … (jealous much?) but will be getting married in San Diego this fall at the Mission de Alcala with their reception at the Coronado Island Marriott.

Kathleen and John are the quintessential metropolitan couple. What better place to take their pictures than in the city they love? We started our session in Central Park, close to the world famous Fifth Avenue Apple Store and the Plaza Hotel. After that, we took a cab south to the Flatiron Building near Madison Square Park, stopped for a little Bocce Ball game in Madison Square Park, and then ended our tour in the Gramercy Park area. We had a blast hanging out and getting to know Kathleen and John while we walked around their picturesque city.

Even though I love San Diego very much, I must say that I left some of my heart in New York City. Maurice and I heart HEART heart that place and can’t wait to go back!
